The Wine Adventurer

The definitive wine tourism brochure for Western Australia.

A project by Tourism Western Australia and Wines of Western Australia, funded by Wine Australia. The aim was to create the definitive digital wine tourism brochure for the State’s nine wine regions.

 

Collating content for the The Wine Adventure was a significant undertaking, as prior to its publication, the graphic maps and illustrations did not exist, and information about each of the wineries from both a wine region and travel point of view was scattered across multiple locations.

 

The brief included all facets of production; conceptualising the name, content direction, researching, writing and graphic designing / art directing the publication.

Maps of the South-West of Australia showing both the wine region boundaries and the main highways did not exist before the project. Using Google Maps and Illustrator, we created this map, making it far easier for travellers to plan their journeys through the vast state.


Editorial for each of the wine regions was divided by number of wineries, with evocative, image-led introduction pages providing a visual reference for the region’s uniqueness, plus a quick snapshot of all the main wine and travel logistics information. Prior to this publication, this important information had not been displayed in one location.


The brief was to represent as many different and diverse winery tourism experiences in each region. The bold links of winery names each linked to a live profile on localista.com.au.
