Branding the Western Australian Wine Industry
CONTEXT
Western Australia produces some of Australia’s most distinctive wines, yet the industry has traditionally been represented through individual wineries and regions rather than a unified narrative. The opportunity was to present Western Australian wine as a cohesive regional identity, bringing together regions and producers with a clear and compelling brand position.
THE CHALLENGE
While Western Australian wines enjoy strong international recognition, the broader industry lacked a shared platform through which producers could present the region collectively. The challenge was to create a brand and architecture framework that allowed diverse wineries to speak with one voice, while retaining their individuality.
STRATEGIC INSIGHT
Wine regions build influence not only through the quality of their wines, but through the clarity of their collective story. By presenting Western Australian wine through a unified narrative shaped by landscape, personality and culture, the industry could strengthen its identity and create a more compelling presence for trade and media audiences.
EXECUTION
The project developed a platform that brought together producers across the state and framed Western Australian wine through a shared narrative. This included:
- developing the overarching industry narrative
- shaping the visual and experiential design of the event
- communications connecting producers, trade and media
The event brought together 50 Western Australian wineries, and was attended by 350+ Sydney trade and media.
IMPACT
The initiative created a collaborative platform through which Western Australian producers could present a unified industry story. By bringing together wineries under a shared narrative, the project strengthened the visibility of Western Australian wine as a collective cultural identity, while creating valuable opportunities for trade engagement and industry connection.
The ‘Exhilarating Wines of Western Australia’ should be one of the marquee trade and media tastings of the year. It’s being held only in Sydney on Tuesday
17th June. and represents a wonderful opportunity to see and taste most of the great and emerging classic wines of Margaret River, Great Southern, Swan
Valley and other regions. A fabulous collaborative initiative that deserves the full support of Sydney’s wine community and beyond.
